It showed me all the past lives I’ve lived. You were in all of them.

I was a fish once. Beautiful and smart.
You were a heron, love. Wild and free.
No one could catch me until you circled my pond, hungry.
I swam up and was with you forever.
To be seen by you was why I was put on Earth.
To be felt by you was my path up to heaven.

Reborn. I was moss. Cleaning the air.
You were the rocks upon which I grew, weakened in my arms.
A thousand years we spent together, holding on so tight.
We were soil by the end my love.
We helped a forest grow.

Before we were human, I was the quiet sea.
I’d see your silver shine at nights and all my peace was lost.
I roared for your attention, love.
I jumped to touch your flesh.
Nothing ever worked, I just loved you from afar.
